Those Who Destroyed China’s Traditional Culture Don’t Want to See It Revived
Shen Yun cannot be seen in China today. How ironic that is. Shen Yun showcases the best of traditional Chinese culture, yet the ruling communist regime has barred Shen Yun from performing there.
That’s because the Communist Party regards as a threat this ancient culture with its spiritual foundation. The regime has tried for decades to destroy and supplant this age-old heritage, through campaigns like the Cultural Revolution. It nearly succeeded.
Despite Suppression, Shen Yun Is Reviving a Lost Heritage
In 2006, a group of Chinese artists some who fled persecution in China themselves came together in New York united by a mission: to revive their cultural heritage through the performing arts and share it with the world.
They follow an ancient mind-body practice called Falun Dafa in perfecting their art and in their daily life.
More than a decade later, though Shen Yun still cannot perform in China, its performances continue to celebrate the timeless virtues of China’s spiritual heritage and have inspired millions around the world.
